Who is citizenjoe?

citizenjoe is an individual who enjoys writing the kind of content I hope you enjoy reading.

What personal data I collect?

I understand completely why this is something you would want to know. Just as I would if I came to your site. The good news is that I don’t collect any personal information from you, your friends, your siblings, or your pets.

I do ask for your email and name if you want to contact me, but that is because I would like to know who I am talking to. There is no way I can prove that the name you add is actually you. And for all those people that tell me their name is Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. How could I disagree?

Personal data is not just created by a user’s interactions with your site. Personal data is also generated from technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third party embeds.

By default, WordPress, which is the Content Management System I am using, does not collect any personal data about visitors, and only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen from registered users. However, you can’t register to this site. My plugins may collect personal data. But I think that data is mainly mine.

Comments

I try not to allow comments on the site as there ar ea lot of people out there who are desperately trying to improve my Google ranking whether I want to or not.

Contact forms

Yes, as I have mentioned, there is a contact form. I capture your:

 • name (because I’d like to know who I am speaking to)
 • email (so I can respond)
 • telephone number (because if you add that, I know you’re serious about talking to me)
 • And your thoughts or feedback (I hope they are full of good intentions)

My contact forms are created by Forminator from WPMUDEV

By default Forminator captures the IP Address for each submission to a Form. Other personal data such as your name and email address may also be captured, depending on the Form Fields.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

We also use a number of plugins from WPMUDEV

They are:

Hummingbird

Hummingbird uses the Stackpath Content Delivery Network (CDN). Stackpath may store web log information of site visitors, including IPs, UA, referrer, Location and ISP info of site visitors for 7 days. Files and images served by the CDN may be stored and served from countries other than your own. Stackpath’s privacy policy can be found here.

Beehive Pro

This website uses Google Analytics to track website traffic. Collected data is processed in such a way that visitors cannot be identified.

Forminator

As mentioned above

How long we retain your data

I do not keep any of your data in any database or plain old Microsoft Excel sheet. I use it only as a way to respond respectfully. And I don’t mind if I have to refer to you as either Mickey or Donald.
